Google Marketing APAC End of Year Town Hall
In 2021 and 2022, the pandemic disrupted workplace culture, leaving teams disconnected and struggling to balance work and life. Recognizing the need to revitalize team spirit and celebrate achievements, leadership sought to transform the annual End of Year Town Hall into a memorable in-person experience.
Seizing this opportunity, I spearheaded the art direction for the event, conceptualizing a vibrant 8-bit theme that resonated with the team's journey of gradually reconnecting – bit by bit. To foster interaction and delight, I designed 14 playful 8-bit characters representing our APAC marketing leaders, strategically placed throughout the presentation as a fun "spot the character" game. Additionally, I designed eye-catching props and in-room decor to enhance engagement and create a festive atmosphere. Attendees were encouraged to embrace the theme by wearing checkered or 8-bit-inspired outfits, further amplifying the sense of camaraderie and shared experience.
This immersive and interactive approach successfully revitalized team spirit with many marketers sharing great feedback on how this reminded them of “old Google” and the joy of connecting in person.
